Thameis amarket townandcivil parishinOxfordshire, about 9 miles (14km) east of the city ofOxfordand 7 miles (11km) southwest of theBuckinghamshiretown ofAylesbury. It derives itstoponymfrom theRiver Thamewhich flows along the north side of the town. The parish includes the hamlet ofMoretonsouth of the town. The2011 Censusrecorded the parish's population as 11,561.
